These are pictures of the Aliwal North ECD program playground funded with the help of Rotary and Caring Clowns. The program is now in full swing. We have the playground fencing and most of the equipment in. Swings are yet to follow. The colorful tires were provided by a local company installed and painted by volunteers.
The program now serves some 158 orphans and vulnerable kids including about 30 in after school tutoring and 48 in home based care. Image #20150209 shows one of the 8 home based mothers with her kids. The home care kids are all close by so they are able to use the playground on a scheduled basis. We visited all of the homes (and the center of course) during our trip. It was an Incredible experience with the caregivers full of excitement over their training and new role in caring for these kids.
