Aliwal North Pastor Bradley Stoffels, North Point Pastor Mike Pickard, and Maranatha Pastor Mike Betha Sign Formal Agreements for Sister Church Relationships at the North Point, Poulsbo, WA Worship Service on July 10, 2011.

One of STM’s primary goals is the establishment of relationships between black churches in South Africa and white churches in North America. The objective is to help congregations work together for the goals of justice, reconciliation, and unity as proscribed by Scripture and confirmed in the Belhar Confession . STM has found such Sister Church relationships to be an effective way to get congregations and individuals involved in personal ministry and service. Such ministry is a two-way giving and receiving experience for each congregation.

These agreements were signed following a March, 2011 visit by a North Point team to South Africa, and a July visit to North Point by Pastors Betha and Stoffels.

As detailed in the Maranatha and Aliwal North documents, the agreements call for sharing of information, development of personal relationships, a mutual ministry of prayer, occasional visitations, and joint implementation of selected projects.

Should you be aware of any North American or South African church that might have interest in a Sister Church relationship please contact us.
