These are some photos and profiles of kids at the Klipkop crèche – some of the ones we are trying to keep in loving care as we work to get a new crèche at Klipkop. We are working to get more of these kinds of shots and to get more information re the families and environment from which these 120 kids come.

Atlehang is the 6th child from his mother; no one is working in the family the family survives on the grant they get for the children. Atlehang’s mother is on ARV treatment and ill. The father works piece jobs sometimes and drinks the little he makes. Life is difficult for the children as they sometimes go to bed with an empty stomach.
Name and surname: Bofelo Mofokeng
The girl stays with her mother and other family members. No one is working in the family and life is difficult for them. The family survives on the grant they get from the state. Bofelo’s father is also not working so life for the little girl has been hard.

This two year old girl was abandoned by her mother who is HIV positive and a drunkard. When Dineo was six months old her paternal grandmother took her because her mother was pregnant again and did not take good care of the child. Since then Dineo has been taken care of by her father and grandmother and she is HIV negative and healthy.
Dineo’s father does piece jobs to provide for the family and try to make the little’s life much better.

Family members: 5
Itumeleng stays with both his parents and two brothers. Both parents are South African citizen but do not have ID’s. The parents took time to apply for documents and now it is difficult for them to get one. All the children also do not have birth certificates which makes life very difficult for them. The father of the children is not working and is very abusive towards the mother.
Itumeleng’s mother works at an NPO and does not earn enough to provide for the whole family.

She stays with her matenal grandmother and grandfather they survive with old age grant. Her mother is still at school so the family is assisting her to take care of her.

The boy stays with both his parents the mother is not working and the father does not earn enough. the mother says life is difficult sometimes because the father earns less money to sustain the family.

Katleho was taken by her grandmother from Lesotho because of poverty and her ill mother who could not take care of her anymore. This young girl cannot access proper documentation because her mother is from Lesotho. Katleho is being taken care of by her grandmother who sells spinach to make a living. Life is difficult for the family because sometimes business does not do well.

No family members: 5
From a family of 4 children Keletso is the last. The 1st two has their father and the last two has their father. The father is not working and the mother does a piece job at a local school. The father of the 1st children does not maintain the children. The family was removed from a bond house due to financial problems. The family is struggling especially financially and emotionally as they had to leave in shack.

This little girl is being raised by her mother they are only two in the family. The father of the child has never been part of a child’s life. The family survives only with the state grand that they receive for Kile.

Lebohang is a second born to her mother, her mother gambles alot and drinks which make the children vulnerable. Her mother is an outgoing person who always leaves Lebohang under the guardian of her sister who is 12 years old.
