A TREE IS PLANTED AT HEILBRON
We’ve just returned from our latest trip to South Africa. On April 7, a glorious, sunny Sunday, we celebrated the official opening of the new community center/church at Heilbron, in the Free State. What a day this was! This is a beautiful, well-built facility and the Heilbron church community is very proud. The campus includes the main multipurpose/church building (which has two classrooms for a future daycare, a council room, a kitchen, and a large meeting room), toilet facilities, and a future pastor’s home.
Many members from other local black and white churches were present at the service as builder Johan Nelson handed over the keys to STM representatives, who then presented them to the Heilbron Council Chairman, Jonas Thapeli. STM and Heilbron are grateful to Johan Nelson, who completed this project in just four months.
David and Maggie Cramer, from North Point Church in Poulsbo, accompanied us on this trip. Maggie is a retired nurse and did hand washing demonstrations at all the churches we partner with. We think she washed about 900 hands!
In the photo below, about 150 kids at Heilbron line up to learn how to properly wash their hands.
Thanks once again to our friends and partners. YOUR prayers and financial support make this and other incredible developments possible in poverty stricken settlements in South Africa. We appreciate you so much!
