COVID-19 FOOD PARCEL DISTRIBUTION

What a year 2020 was. So much heartbreak and suffering around the world from a pandemic that has yet to be controlled. In South Africa, which had so much poverty and hunger before the pandemic hit, we knew the situation would now truly be dire. With a total lock-down in place, we felt called to respond by providing much-needed food parcels to some of the most desperate families in the communities in which we have been involved. From April-December, over 10,000 households (roughly 55,000-60,000 people) received life-sustaining food.

We didn’t do it alone. It took heroes across the US and South Africa. Heroes like:

~ Our SidebySide Board of Directors – who demonstrated their compassion by directing funding towards this program through the end of 2020.

~ Our Donors – without you this could not have happened.

~ Our South Africa Partners: Boipetong URCSA, Bophelong URCSA, Etelang Pele Klipkop, First St. John Apostolic Church, Kgautswane Community Development Center, Lethabong Nursery School, Maranatha URCSA, Munsieville URCSA, Sharpeville URCSA and Tembisa Kopanong URCSA. These are our “boots on the ground” – ten organizations who identified the neediest in their communities, and organized and managed over 60 separate distributions with covid protocols in place and challenging logistics. Our heartfelt thanks go out to them and their dedicated teams of volunteers.

Please consider partnering with us to help hungry families through this pandemic. Your gift will be doubled by MATCHING funds. So please donate today.
